ADULT ADHD SKILLS GROUP

Sundays 1:00 pm PST: Starting January 11th (2026)

Group Description

This therapy skills group is for individuals with ADHD who are looking to improve executive functioning skills. Participants will learn practical strategies for daily functioning and emotional regulation through clinician-led instruction and peer support.

Structure

The group focuses on teaching executive functioning skills to help reduce anxiety and depression related to ADHD. It's an open group meaning, new members are allowed to join at any time. Participants may enter or leave the group as needed.

Format

This therapy group meets weekly on Sundays at 1:00 PM for 60 minutes. Each session is divided into two main parts,

  • First half (Skills Teaching): The facilitator introduces and teaches specific therapeutic and life skills for anxiety and depression that are related to ADHD. These may include strategies for emotional regulation, communication, mindfulness, or other relevant coping techniques.

  • Second half (Group Processing): Participants have the opportunity to reflect on and discuss their personal experiences related to the topic or skill of the day. Group members are encouraged to share insights, challenges and successes in applying the skills and to offer feedback to each other. This collaborative discussion helps deepen understanding, promote personal growth and strengthen connection among group members.

Core Skills Addressed:

  • Organization and Planning: Structuring tasks, breaking goals into manageable steps and creating effective systems.

  • Time Management: Improving awareness of time, scheduling realistically and prioritizing tasks.

  • Emotional Regulation: Recognizing emotional triggers, reducing frustration and building coping strategies.

  • Task Initiation and Follow-Through: Overcoming procrastination, maintaining motivation and using accountability supports.

  • Working Memory and Focus: Strengthening attention, reducing distractions and increasing focus.

This a common concern when considering group participation. Sharing in the group is voluntary and there will be no pressure to speak. I understand that everyone participates at their own pace when it comes to opening up and you will never be expected to share until you feel comfortable.

Group sessions are typically covered by most insurance plans. However, to ensure proper coverage and meet insurance requirements, at least one individual appointment is needed before joining. This initial individual appointment allows for an assessment of a formal diagnosis and helps determine the best fit for your needs.

  • The group costs $35 per appointment
